Frequently Asked Questions
Question: | How much will it cost me to talk to you about my case? |
Answer: | Nothing. Contact us to schedule a free consultation about the accident that resulted in your serious personal injury or the wrongful death of a loved one. |
Question: | If I hire your law firm, how much money must I pay up front? |
Answer: | Nothing. Our fees are provided for in the contingency fee agreement you must sign to retain our services. Generally, if we accept your personal injury or wrongful death case, we will work on a contingency fee basis. This means that we will not get paid unless we recover money for your injury or death case. If we recover money for your injury or death case, we will be paid a percentage of the total recovery before deducting costs and expenses. |
Question: | If I have questions, will my lawyer have time to talk to me? |
Answer: | Absolutely. During your case, call us anytime with any questions you have. Your lawyer will return your calls promptly and will answer all of your questions. |
Question: | Can you handle injury and death cases anywhere in Louisiana? |
Answer: | Yes. We estimate that more than one-half of our personal injury and wrongful death cases are for injuries that occurred outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. |
Question: | Can you handle cases in other States? |
Answer: | All of our lawyers are licensed to practice law in Louisiana, which is where our only office is located. Scott Andrews is also licensed to practice law in Texas. In association with out-of-state attorneys, we handle serious personal injury and wrongful death cases in other states when permitted to do so by the out-of-state court. |
Question: | Since all lawyers are the same, shouldn’t I hire the one with the lowest fee? |
Answer: | All lawyers are not the same, and generally, you get what you pay for. Hiring a lawyer is an important decision that should not be made based on cost alone. The decision should be based on factors such as the lawyer’s track record of success, reputation, resources, personality and professionalism. |
Question: | What does your law firm do to give something back to our community? |
Answer: | Our attorneys and staff are actively involved in many civic, educational, and social activities. For example, Scott Andrews is a director and officer of the Northwestern State University Foundation; and C. Scott Courrege is a commissioned law enforcement officer. Staff members are actively involved in many charitable organizations. Our attorneys have been involved in and have supported local churches and schools, including Episcopal, Dunham, Chapel on the Campus, St. George Catholic Church and School, St. Joseph’s Academy, and Catholic High. |
